DUSKY CALLING
Canada Scene July 20-22, 2017
Theatre in the Bush - June 11 & 12, 2016
Theatre in the Bush - June 11 & 12, 2016
They have returned. They are throughout the Bush, wherein we make Theatre!
Dusky Calling is an installation with a looped video of a singing Swainson`s Thrush,
projected onto a fine white linen, hanging in the forest.
Large horizontal mirrors leaning up from the mossy floor,
tilted to catch and repeat the image of the singing bird, and
the midnight dusk shining through the forest canopy.
The large repeated image and amplified song of this small bird asks us to pause, to listen.
The installation is a nod to these lovers that flock to the Canadian forests,
with a song in their hearts - i love you i love you, come into the world of me...
(we speak animal)
Collaborators:
Barb Hinton, Jocylyn McDowell, Nate Wood, Guiniveve Lalena, Kirsten and Clementine Madsen
Special thanks to Brian Fidler, Ramshackle Theatre Co. and Magnetic North Theatre Festival
